Creativity and Innovation: Week 57

PROBLEM RECOGNITION

Learn
I realized that recognizing problems and opportunities is a result of constant scans of the internal and external environment.

Unlearn
Sometimes opportunities can be disguised as problems and we need to find a way to identify these opportunities.

Relearn
One common way to identify these opportunities is by asking questions such as below. With thorough understanding of the below questions, the opportunities can be uncovered.

What are customers frustrated about?
What do customers complain about?
Where is the most effort spent?
What takes the longest?
What costs the most?
What are the most common errors?
What do they want or need?
How are trends impacting your work?
Why do anything about it? What if we don’t? Who can do something about it?
