I learned about Situational Leadership where depending on the situation and the competency of the person being lead, the leader will apply appropriate leadership style.
Unlearn
Although it seems simple but being human, we are not perfect and we tend to make mistake on applying the appropriate leadership style. Most importantly, being the leader we need to realize the mistake and correct it immediately.
Relearn
I have a new sales executive who made some mistakes on the field and I was angry and disappointed by his actions without properly evaluating the situation. I asked myself again and I realized that he made those mistakes simply because he does not know what to do. Being at D1 in that situation, I should apply S1 leadership that is to direct (provide direction). I immediately calm myself and explain to him how to handle that situation and he thanked me for providing with him the guidance.
