Title: Human Resource Management: Week 19

Learn
I learned the importance of personally calling candidates for interview rather than rely on personal assistant to make the arrangement. I had an experience where I had to interview a candidate who could not communicate well in English resulting in a waste of my and his time due to the fact that I would not be able to hire him.

Unlearn
By personally calling the candidate it allows us to gauge whether the candidate could communicate well in English as this is the minimum requirement for medical sales representative. At times what is written by candidates in their resume such as “able to communicate well in English” may not always be true.

Relearn
From this experience, I started to call candidates personally for interview although I am busy. It makes sense to spend this time as it will waste more time if an unsuitable candidate is arranged for interview.
